The Red EmperorWhen I wrote Munchkin Quest, it was, and still is, almost a joke - I never seriously intend for these statistics to be used, although this is more because I don't play enough for my PC's to develop to such a powerful level. However, writing these statistics has been intriguing, firstly to see how RuneQuest actually works at such high levels and secondly by affixing details and researching information about Heroes I learn more about them and the world about them. After getting feedback etc... on the Red Emperor it seemed obvious to me that a full description of him would be enormous. The man is master of an entire Empire, and is bristling with power, both temporal and transcendent, both political and magical. So here is my work in progress write-up of the Red Emperor. I hope to add details and such as time goes by based on what everyone remembers the Red Emperor having done and having achieved, the additional information can then just be added. My main sources were Dragon Pass, The Fortunate Succession, ToTRM #16, A Rough Guide to Glamour and Wyrms Footprints. Normally has a Gem of Reality 20 cast, and a Mystic Vision 10 with a Range of 160m (leaving him with 85 Presence). Spells cast just before combat utilize Lunar Magic and his crystal. They are a multispelled Bladesharp (one on each weapon), Coordination, Countermagic, Mobility, Protection, Strength and parry (on dagger) all at 29 pointage. All these spirit magic spells are maintained using his Presence, taking up 37 points of Presence. Casts truesword on Rapier and Dagger, a Seal Wound on both dagger and sword, a Shield 5 and a Spirit Block 5. Spirit Magic (450-12=438%): None (Free INT=22). Sorcery (Presence=120; these are his favourite spells that are normally to hand and contained in matrices - he has access to any spell he desires through the College of Magic. He is classed as a Lunar sorceror for purposes of maximum manipulation): Bless Tax Forms 107, Call Calm 150, Call Light 120, Dominate Human 200, Evoke Flame 145, Gem of Reality 100, Identify Spell 200, Locate Object 200, Lustrous Missile 160, Muster Power 250, Mystic Vision 105, Proscribe Yu-Kargzant 300, Worship Invisible God. Skills:
Vows: The Emperor is a very Illuminated and mystical individual. He ignores most of what mortal sorcerors would term "vows". Languages: New Pelorian 210/210, Dara Happan 200/200, Ralian 100/100, Seshnelan 100/100, Praxian 90/40, Pentan 150/50, Firespeech 100/100, Theyalan 120/110, Darktongue 110/100, Chaosspeech 180/100, Moonspeech 63/57, Trade 150/150. Special Items: Wears Red Dragon Armour. It weighs the same as Bezainted but has 20AP's on every location. Carries "Moon Bran". This magical substance dispels magical traps when sprinkled upon them. One "pinch" destroys either one point of spirit magic or one intensity of magical defense, two "pinches" destroys one point of Rune magic. Normally carries 100 Pinches. Carries the Brooch of Manimat, one of the more magical pieces of the Regalia. It is a Shield 10 martix that refills with magic every dawn and binds Manimat's spirit. Has a POW 7 spell reinforcing crystal. Carries 12 crystals of his own blood (pointage; 31, 27, 25, 20, 14, 14, 14, 13, 13, 11, 10, 10). Carries The Arm Of The Moon. It is a 4' long red-gold rod topped with an enormous red glowing ruby. It's main power is to convert others to the Lunar Way if it makes contact with another being; if it does so and the target fails a mp vs. mp with the wielder then they convert. Some overt anti-lunars are immune to this (GM's decision). Secondly, at the cost of 10 mp's it can create a Wall of Moon Fire -- a sheet of 30'x20'x5' cold red fire that forms at the tip of the ruby and remains stationary until it disperses after 15 minutes. Those passing through suffer 20d6 dmg and are knocked back 10d6m if they suffer even 1 point of damage. At will the Arm can create a 15' radius moonglow. Lastly, 1/week it may transport him to His Mother's Manse on the Red Moon. He does not often use this in combat, preferring his new weapon style of the Dagger and Sword, but if he does so he will use Bludgeon, Crush and Truemaul on it before combat. The above data shows what he casts when fighting with sword and dagger. Owns the Regalia of Anaxial. Often wears it around the Dara Happa Tripolis when on official business. When the Regalia is worn the wearer gains a temporary 25 points of Piety (Yelm), this isn't included in the statistics given below. The individual pieces of the Regalia are:
Sandals of Protection. These bestow no individual power, but are neccessary for some Yelm HeroQuests the Red Emperor knows. Vestments of Disclosure. These adds the wearer's POW to their Orate and Fast Talk skill when worn. Girdle of Command. When worn by the rightful Emperor the spell Command Worshippers becomes an Heroic Casting. Bow of Domination. This weapon is the greatest bow in Dara Happa. It is Powered, and any arrow fired from it is affected by both a FireArrow and a TrueArrow spell. When the Emperor uses this weapon he only has an attack percentage of 100%. He carries a quiver of 24 arrows magically enchanted so that Special Powers: Immortal, does not age and returns upon Death. Can summon and dismiss a special variety of three horned demons form Hell at will. Has variable hit points depending upon the stage of the Moon (dark/dying 18; crescent 27; half 36; full 54), and variable magic points (dark/dying 74; crescent 148; half 400; full 900). Remember, within the Glowline it is always as if it is Full Moon. He can control the Crimson Bat and call upon the Twin Stars, as well as use long winded rites to summon various Pelandan, Dara Happan and Lunar gods/spirits. Has 1d4 POW Divine Intervention to the Red Goddess. Can cast Sunspear without weather restrictions. Has the following Heroic Castings (means he does not have to repray to regain access to that spell -- see Simon Phipp's HeroQuest rules); City Harmony, Mindblast, Moonspear. Can cast any spell from the cult of the Red Emperor at will and at no magic points cost (see Tales of the Reaching Moon Issue 16). In addition to all of his rune magic, as he is the High Priest of all Dara Happan, Lunar and other such cults he can draw up to 20 points of Rune Magic per day from any of the cults he is High Priest of - for instance, he might take 2 points from Yara Aranis, 6 from Jakaleel, 7 from Yelm and 5 from Lodril when just about to enter battle. He can only select reusable spells. Spirits: Passions: Hate (rebels) 5, Love (food) 20, Love (mother) 30, Loyalty (Lunar Empire) 70, Loyalty (Dara Happa) 50, Loyalty (Pelanda) 40, Lust (conquest) 30, Piety (Red Goddess) 67, Piety (Yelm) 40. |
