nikk@MailAndNews.com Tales from the Riverbank by Nick Davison Background Therith Bluewater is a Pavis born initiate of Zola Fel. Merkin Kingfisher is also an initiate of Zola Fel comes from a small river community along the river. Both work for the Ingillis family as boatmen and also serve their cult. Adventures 1. The ZF river priest asks them to meet a client in Gimpy's Tavern. Amur (a dark skinned sailor from Pamaltela) wishes to hire them to pick up some adventurers just south of the Big Rubble and transport them downstream to Corflu. Unfortunately he shows his wealth a bit too readily and is attacked outside. Therith and Merkin prevent him being mugged. 2. To ensure maximum discretion Therith and Merkin construct a basic raft rather than use known ZF vessels. They meet the adventurers who are being pursued by a group of angry trolls. Therith uses his Mobility spell to aid their escape. The adventurers are carrying a lead 'Everburning torch', which was manufactured from Yelms Blood. 3. The torch is hidden on the journey South through Sun County. Just outside the North Bog the party who have camped for the night are attacked by a group of Broo. Fortunately Merkin hears them approach and warns the others. They slay them all. 4. The torch is delivered to Amur at Corflu. He is evidently first mate of a ship called the Churner, which is captained by Barran the Monster Killer. (An acolyte of Magasta who has slain many monsters). He is not to be seen unlike a big shipwright from Kralorea and a ludoch merman who are also members of his crew. 5. An Irripi Ontor scholar from the Lunar Department of Antiquities Therith and Merkin to search the Corflu delta for evidence of the lost city of Feroda. They are accompanied by a junior scholar and a Lunar Marine seconded from the local garrison. 6. At first they find nothing and moor their vessel alongside a small island. While they are camped for the night they are attacked by a giant mosquito. A light spell attracts another which is swatted from the sky. 7. They also see a Mudshark and a Dragon Snail. They manage to avoid the first and retreat from the latter after demoralising it. Later they partially excavate a small island to find a pillar which covers the entrance to a staircase and then a tomb. They retreat when they are attacked by spirits. 8. On the return journey Therith critically spots a large shape under the boat. A casting of River Eyes reveals a huge eye gazing upwards. Both ZF initiates swim down to investigate and see a huge stone head with a single eye and fangs. 9. They are rewarded by the Irrippi Ontor scholar who says there may be work for them to further explore the delta and perhaps raise the stone head.
